
Portia Jones, MD, MPH - Family Medicine Faculty
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Portia completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon. She attended Hahnamann University School of Medicine for two years before transferring to the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, where she received her medical degree. She simultaneously completed her residency in family medicine and a fellowship in obstetrics at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Portia formerly held faculty positions in Maryland, Minnesota and New York. She completed a Masters of Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and is a certified instructor for Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics and the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Portia and her husband work with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Honduras to train primary health care workers and develop a health network in an area that provides little health resources. They teach three courses during the 4-6 weeks they spend in Central America each year. Portia and her husband have three children ages 12, 10 and 7.
